Medical experts believe the correlation between bad oral hygiene and heart disease. People with gum disease will have greater risk having heart attack than people with normal gums. Sure it is something more to aware than just trying to stop bad breath.

It might be further associated with stroke and osteoporosis. How can this happen? Why a mere gingivitis can lead to a more serious disease like heart attacks and coronary artery disease?

Gum is a soft tissue underlying in our mouth and when it is not properly treated, can be easily bleed. This condition often called as gingivitis. Gingivitis mainly caused by excessive plaque that is created from leftover food and bacteria. It provides a base for bacteria to breed. Plaques can stack on teeth if it is not brushed and cleaned with mouth wash to stop bad breath. Use of dental floss to swollen gums only makes gums bleed even more, and then bring the bacteria flowing into bloodstream and cause trouble in the heart by clogging the arteries. That is why we can get strokes from gum bleeding.

The easiest way to prevent gingivitis is maintaining a healthy gum by brushing your teeth at least twice a day. It is so simple but effective. Do not be lazy to brush diligently and think about the long term effect, not just trying to stop bad breath. Use antibacterial mouth wash and toothpaste to remove any harmful bacteria that will build plaques and destroy your teeth. Consult your dentist about worst possibilities and ways to avoid it. Gingivitis relatively easy to detect and can be cured easily before it is goes too far.

Overall, though scientists still in major discussion whether the bacteria found in plaque can make its way travelling the bloodstream and cause heart attacks, there are plenty of evidences it is the same bacteria found in the plaques and clogged arteries. Brushing your teeth twice a day minimum will not cost you much money and energy also it is a good investment to your health. Make it a habit from early life. Do not underestimate the simplicity of teeth brushing and aim it just for short term purpose, to stop bad breath.
